Was this PDF edited?
Every later save, with its date, its software and the lines it changed. Read on your device.
How to check whether a PDF was edited after it was saved or signed.
The short answer. Drop the PDF into the Integrity Scanner. If the file was saved again after it was first written or signed, the scanner lists each later revision with its date and the software that made it, the text removed and added on each page, the notes and form values added afterwards, and whether each signature still covers the file. When the original is still inside the file, you can download it exactly as it was first saved.
A PDF that arrives by email has a history you cannot see by opening it. Many PDF editors do not rewrite the file when you change it: they append the change after the original, so every earlier version stays inside. The scanner reads those layers on your own device and writes what changed in plain words. It states what the file says about itself; whether that history is acceptable is your judgement.
What it reads in the file
The date of every save after the first, the software that made it and what that save added: page text, notes, form values, attachments.
The text removed and added on each page, with the changed words marked and a plain note on what to check: an amount, a date, a number or the wording.
When the original is still inside the file, download it byte for byte and keep it next to the copy you received.
Whether anything was added after each signature, and whether the signed bytes still match the digest stored inside it. The signer’s certificate and identity are not validated.
The copy you signed or sent against the copy you received: identical bytes, or the exact lines that differ, page by page.
A PDF report with the SHA-256 of the file, the level (Low, Medium or High) and the technical fact behind each reason, dated.
What a real result looks like
The sample lease, in the scanner’s own words: “Integrity: High. Changed after it was first saved: the text on page 1 was changed on July 16, 2026 in Adobe Acrobat Pro DC.” Then, line by line: “Monthly rent: $1,450.00 → $1,650.00 (amount changed)”, “Term: 12 months → 6 months (date changed)”, and four more. Open the same sample in the Integrity Scanner.
How to check a PDF
Open the Integrity Scanner
Go to docsupra.com/?abre=scanner. Nothing is installed; on a computer you can also install it as an app from the browser menu.
Drop the PDF
One file, a whole folder or a ZIP, up to 40 MB per file. Before it reads your first file, the engine checks itself with three files whose answers are known; if it does not get all three right, it shows no result and says so.
Read the three answers
Edited? (yes, likely or no sign, with the reason), Source and time (the program that made the file, when it was created and last saved) and Safe to open? (scripts, executables and hidden payloads).
Open the report
The revisions, the lines that changed and where on the page, the signatures and what the file exposes. Export the PDF report with the file’s SHA-256 and keep it with the file.
What it cannot tell you
If the file was saved in a way that erased its earlier versions, for example printed to a new PDF or flattened, there is nothing left to compare: the scanner reports what the file still carries (the software that made it and its dates) and says Medium, not a guess. A scan of a paper printout is a new image, so a change made on paper before scanning is not something a file can reveal. The scanner does not decide whether a document is genuine, it does not validate who signed, and it does not accuse anyone. It is not legal advice.
What the Integrity Scanner costs
From one lease to a whole department: pay once for a few checks, or subscribe.
Document downloads are not part of this subscription: repairing and exporting documents is the Compliance Studio. Prices are in USD and exclude any tax that applies in your country; Stripe calculates it and shows it before you pay.

Can I tell if a PDF was edited just by opening it?
No. A viewer shows only the latest version. The earlier versions, the date of each save and the name of the software are inside the file but not on the page. The Integrity Scanner reads them in your browser; nothing is installed and the file is not uploaded.
Does a digital signature prove the PDF was not changed?
A signature covers the bytes that existed when it was applied. The scanner checks whether those bytes still match the digest stored in the signature and whether anything was added after it. It does not validate the signer’s certificate or identity.
What if someone edited the PDF and saved it as a new file?
A file that was printed to a new PDF or flattened carries no earlier versions, so there is nothing to compare. The scanner then reports what remains, such as the software that produced the file and its dates, and rates it Medium instead of guessing.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The file is read on your own device, inside the browser. There is no upload endpoint, no server copy and no retention period; you can disconnect from the internet and it keeps working.
What does it cost?
Where the file came from and whether it is safe to open are shown to everyone. Whether it was edited, how, and what it exposes comes with a check: 3 checks with the $9.99 pack, 50 with the $19.99 pass, or up to 1,000 files a month with the $14.99 subscription. It is included with Professional Team and Corporate Studio.
